Northwest Junior Pipe Band members and instructors entered nine events at the first WPA mini competition of the season, and placed in EVERY event! WPA set a record for the most competitors at an event in recent years with over 40 competitors. It turned the day into a little bit longer than we expect, but it was very exciting to see so many pipers and drummers at these competitions. The WPA president, Don Davidson and Vice President Laurie McKenzie also announced they will be stepping down after this year’s season and are actively recruiting new leadership for Washington Pipers Association. NWJPB Fielded FIFTEEN competitors (which is probably also a record), and two of our instructors competed as well.
It’s interesting to note that we had 8 drummers show up to compete at WPA…just a few years ago we only had 6 or 7 MEMBERS in the whole band!Â
Piping Judge David Hilder Pipe Major of last year’s World Champion RMM2, Andre Tessier, Lead Drummer form last year’s World Champ RMM2, and Annie Head (also from last year’s Grade 2 World Champion band) were the adjudicators.
